SAN BERNARDINO, CA – San Bernardino Police Department have identified 2 individuals who were killed in a fatal collision in San Bernardino late Sunday evening, February 2nd.  According to San Bernardino police Sgt. John Echevarria, 20-year old Phillip Sanchez and 17-year old Izack Pacheco, both of Fontana, were traveling southbound on Kendall Drive in an Acura TL approaching the intersection with H Street sometime before 11:30 P.M. Sunday evening.

While traveling through the intersection a white Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northbound on Kendall Drive. For reasons unknown, Sanchez veered over the center line and collided head on with the white pickup truck. First responders arrived to find Pacheco dead at the scene. Sanchez was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated for life-threatening wounds. Sanchez later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff a short time later.

The driver of the pickup was identified as a 22-year old female from San Bernardino. She was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was not hospitalized. She was released from the scene shortly after being treated. Sgt. Echevarria stated that neither excessive speed nor alcohol played a factor in the collision on the pickup truck driver’s part.

Officials did not say whether they believed the same was true for Sanchez and Pacheco pending further investigations. Police urge anyone with details related to the crash to call Detective Dan Acosta or Sgt. Jeff Harvey at 909-384-5792.
