San Diego Wrong-way Crash in Clairemont Area on I-805 Injures Three
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 9, 2022) – Early in the morning on Sunday in the Clairemont area of San Diego, a wrong-way crash on I-805 injured three people. The November 6 crash occurred at State Route 52 near University City.
The time was roughly 5:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities were reported to have received calls of a driver going the wrong way on I-805, traveling southbound in the lanes that head north.
The wrong-way vehicle struck the divider in the center of the roadway, according to reports, veered down an embankment, and ended up rolling over onto State Route 52.
Responders from San Diego Fire worked to free the three occupants from the wreckage.
Responders transported the patients to Scripps Memorial Hospital located in La Jolla.
Reports say the three people suffered injuries that were described as minor.
No one involved in the crash has been identified.
Authorities later arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.
Investigators are continuing to collect information regarding the crash.
