Bakersfield, CA (May 5, 2023) – On the night of May 3, a man tragically lost his life while crossing California Avenue outside of a crosswalk in Bakersfield. The incident occurred at the intersection of California Avenue and Real Road, according to the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD).
Despite Bakersfield Fire’s Best Efforts, Man Was Declared Dead At The Scene
The BPD received a call at around 9:29 pm and immediately dispatched officers to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male with major injuries. Bakersfield Fire and Hall Ambulance made efforts to save his life but declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim at a later time.
The Driver of The Vehicle Is Cooperating with Bakersfield Police
The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident, an adult male, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The BPD reports that they do not believe speed or impairment were factors in the accident.
